Lizard Love Practice

Just an exciting discovery I decided to share / proof that I’m still drawing! I’ve been wanting to do a Valentines Day picture of my character Kaladek with his mate Teldra. My first attempt (the biggest) I thought looked pretty good, but having them both in side view just looks kind of static. So I experimented with a couple different 3/4 poses for Teldra, and I was amazed at the difference it makes! (You can ignore the two bottom-most sketches… they’re just practice sketches of a crested lizard and have nothing to do with the others. ) With Teldra’s head tilted like that, she looks a lot closer to Kaladek, and their pose looks more natural and even tender. (Awww…) I like the top-most pose the best (#2) and you should see a finished version by V-Day!
