*Excerpt from the Journals of Dr. Daniel Malcom:

“…The mazzard are certainly very social creatures. Not only do they mate for life and form close-knit family groups, but they show their affection towards one another frequently and openly. As far as I’ve been able to tell, their spoken language has no equivalent to the English word “love,” though this may just be a result of the sparcity of the language. Instead, they virtually always express their affection physically, by touching noses, embracing, or nuzzling each other’s neck and face, the latter being the more intimate; I suppose similar to kissing for humans. In the mazzard language to say that two individuals are a mated couple, they are referred to by a single name, as if they were only one. This name is usually the combined first syllables of each of their names. So Kaladek and his mate Teldra are referred to together as Kaltel, though it is just as common for the female’s name to be placed first.”*

Well, Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone! This is my character, Kaladek with his mate, Teldra. I’ve been toying with this one for a little while, experimenting with various poses and such. I was going to put them both in side view, but it didn’t look nearly as good. I’m happy with how the 3/4 view on Teldra turned out! I didn’t much time to dedicate to coloring it, but I wanted to at least do something with it, so I experimented a little. I kinda like it! No, they’re not actually the above colors; I just did them that way for this picture.
