I Hold My Flag

Description
A digital drawing of an anthro bald eagle holding a flag in its wings and looking up into the night sky as tears fall from its eye and fireworks appear in the sky behind it. The flag appears frayed, stained, faded, and bloody. Text on the image reads, "Here i hold my flag. Stained with the blood of innocents, with the grime of corruption, the stink of vain ambition, faded from indifference, torn from division, threadbare from despair. And yet I hold it high. Not as an emblem of pride, nor a mark of separation, nor a boast of dominance. But as a humble offering. To the One who heals, the One who cleanses, the One who restores."
It’s America’s 250th. But I don’t feel like celebrating. I love my country, but I don’t love where it’s heading. I don’t think America is irredeemable. But I don’t think it can redeem itself. Redemption and healing can only come when its leaders and citizens begin living the principals of liberty and justice they espouse. Until then, I pray 251 looks a little bit brighter, and I’ll do what I can to help make that happen.
